Pet Ultrasound

Ultrasound provides high-quality images

Ultrasonography, or ultrasound, is a diagnostic procedure that uses high-frequency sound waves to capture images of patients’ internal structures.
It is painless, non-invasive, and allows veterinarians to peer deep inside your pet’s body without the use of radiation. At Orting Animal Hospital, we are pleased to provide state-of-the-art ultrasound diagnostics in Orting and are here to lend a paw if your furry friend needs this type of testing. We partner with a mobile pet ultrasound specialist who visits our clinic to bring expert ultrasound diagnostics right to our pet patients.

How it Works

Ultrasonography machines generate ultrasound waves.

The machine is attached to a handheld device that is placed against the patient’s skin. It delivers ultrasound waves, which bounce off internal structures, such as organs, and return to a sensor inside the machine. The machine then uses these “echoes” to generate images that our veterinarians can view on a screen.

Ultrasound provides high-quality images and works especially well for examining internal organs, such as the kidneys, liver, spleen, and gallbladder. We also use this equipment to diagnose and determine the severity of certain forms of cancer and to monitor pregnancy and assess fetal health. Because images are generated in real-time, this incredible technology can even be used to assess the heart as it beats.

Our Pet Ultrasound Specialist

We want to provide the highest quality diagnostic services for your pet at Orting Animal Hospital. To accomplish this goal, we partner with a mobile pet ultrasound specialist who visits our clinic to perform ultrasound examinations. This collaboration means that your pet can receive expert diagnostic care without the need to travel to a separate facility. This not only reduces stress for your pet but also allows for a more convenient and streamlined experience for you. The pet ultrasound specialist uses state-of-the-art equipment to provide detailed images of your pet’s internal organs, helping diagnose and monitor conditions more accurately. By having a dedicated specialist, we ensure that your cat or dog receives the most precise and thorough diagnostic evaluations available.
